Here's a year end video i made  just messing around, none of the pics are in any order. Hope you enjoy it.
I haven't posted in a while. The holidays had me fairly busy. Today i finally managed to shake off the holiday pounds i gained and am down to 267.  That's a total of 17 pounds so far. go Team Fuzzy. There was a sale at Big5 today and i managed to get another trekking pole with a compass in the handle, a compression bag for whatever reason, and some hiking socks. I am really excited to finally gotten some. However now I have to take my new walking shoes back and get them refitted to the hiking socks lol.

I did not walk in the morning but instead I walked later in the evening (with my new hiking socks). I walked 3.20 miles non stop, and probably could have kept going. The new socks worked pretty good, I will have to get some sock liners though. My old blister on my right foot apparently was still there but was just dead skin. when I took my sock off I discovered this round hole with nothing but dead skin around it lol. I got rid of the skin and tomorrow I will use mole skin for my next walk.

One thing I've noticed. Other then the pain in my usual areas one thing absent was any pain in my lower back.. I hope this continues and as I slowly lose weight other places will reduce in pain as well. I made a video tonight but will post it later in the morning.

I still cant train right now but I am down to 275 that means i lost 10 pounds. Go Team Jason

Due to these painful blisters i have no choice but take a few days off to heal them up. Afterwards I will be buying a significant quantity of moleskin to use on a regular basis.

3 painful blisters on my feet. Time to take a rest for a few days to let them heal. In the meantime here is one of my favorite pics. I will not disclose where this was taken but i will say it was in Washington.

I was asked to post more videos. So here are a few videos of a trip I took last year in Ronald Washington. It was a neat little campground and it got cold pretty quickly and was a little too wet. Could not get the fire going properly because of the wind. Woke up the next day to it snowing. The interesting thing we decided to leave that day but Snoqualmie Pass closed down so we ended up driving through Yakima and Satus Pass then to Vancouver  and from there took I-5 home

I hiked Schmitz Park today as well as two hill walks tonight. I'm feeling pretty good right now. I'm going to create an excell spreadsheet with time and distances so I can keep track of what I'm doing.
Thought I'd share two videos i made earlier this year. Frenchman Coulee and Grand Coulee. The videos are this year but the trips were a few years ago.

So I did some walking today along one my the hills and i realized something... i was not out of breath nor was I in pain. This is quite the step up. I am encouraged that taking things slowly was the right step for me. Tomorrow I may tackle a long walk around the neighborhood.

Simply cannot beat the west coast sunsets on the ocean.

I am walking through the sand dunes in Ocean shores. One of the nice things is the fact in winter ther was hardly anyone around except for some locals. Apparently you can drive on the beach for 25 miles and have bonfires on the beach. I might have to do this. That picture above makes me look like a farmer walking in a field of wheat.

Ocean Shores

I went to Ocean Shores to catch a sunset from the ocean. I was not dissapointed. It helps reaffirm how small we are compared to the world around us.

Hello everyone

I've lost 5 pounds since last week. I am now down to 280 from 285. In a little bit i am going to go for a walk as today I start walking up Genesee once in the day and once at night. This will keep my back and legs from hurting. I am not jogging or running on cement with this weight as previous attempts shown my body does not like that.
My thought of the day.   A goal isn't a goal unless you are aware of the importance of how you attained your goal.

Here is a picture of me on the Pete Lake trail.

This was a pretty fun hike into the Alpine Lakes Wilderness. It was around 9 miles as the crow flies round trip. This is also the same trail where I hiked to Chimney Rock and was chased off a 20 ft cliff by hornets. If you want I can post more pictures of the Pete Lake hike.

This is a picture my friend Keith took over on Alki Point here in West Seattle. Thought some of you might enjoy it.
Ok so I am pretty new at this blog stuff. Never really thought much about it until just recently. My intention for this blog, is to document what I go through as I start training (slowly) to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail. I'll be the first to tell you I have NO experience in long distance hiking. The last time I did an overnight hike, up in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness area, it was a miserable experience. I got chased off a 20 foot cliff by hornets and fell into devils clubs, AND my body cramped up from dehydrating. It was rugged terrain like nothing I've ever experienced.

I hope to post a lot of my trials and tribulations on here. And I will pretty much bare my soul for all to see. I think its important that people who read this get the context and reasoning's behind my decisions and thoughts.
Currently I am quite out of shape and in fact heavier then I should be. The reason for this is 2002 I was hit by a car while walking across the street. I had a separated shoulder which still bothers me, bruised ribs, and a laceration on the back of my head that required 14 staples. My concussion lasted for a long time. Not too long after this I moved to Ellensburg to go to school at Central Washington. by the end of the first quarter i developed severe insomnia that i still have to take medication to sleep every night. Once school was finished for me I went to work at a warehouse and sustained a severe neck injury that was misdiagnosed and laid me up for a long time. I have been unable to work in a warehouse type of job because of this neck injury that still exists. As a result of this i gained a lot of weight. Which by itself makes things difficult to want to work out.

I used to be a wrestler, a damned good one. I learned how to fight adversity and I've always overcome my obstacles when it came to wrestling. People said i would never place in state, and i took 4th. People didn't think i could wrestle in college and i did at Highline.People didn't think I was good enough to compete at Freestyle Nationals and I did. For me, when someone says I cant do something i take that as a personal challenge. In each of those wrestling experiences, I had always had to make weight. In high school I competed at 135 all four years, In college my last year competing i lost 50 pounds. At Freestyle Nationals I lost 30 pounds in a month and half. The fact is when I put my mind to it I achieve some measure of success.

So why am I training to hike the AT? It's not because anyone has challenged me,  It's not because I am just seeking another adventure in my life. Its a journey. It's a journey for me to become healthy again, to change who I am into someone far stronger.
